OVERVIEW

Orissa Small Scale Industries Association (OSSIA) is the premier apex association which was established way back in the year 1956 and since then has been instrumental in the upliftment of SSI Units in the State of Odisha. We were members in National Board for Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises and are also invited at Pre-Budget Meetings at the Central level as well as State Level. We are also Directors in the Board of IDCO and OSIC. OSSIA is also a Governing Body Member in CTTC. OSSIA is also a Governing Council Member of OQTC. We are a member in the MSE Facilitation Council formed under the Delayed Payment Act on rotation basis. OSSIA is the lone Apex Association representing the cause of SSI units at EPM cost committee judiciously and are also members of the EPM Task Force Committee. Besides the above OSSIA is Representing at different organizations of State as well as Central Government, CPSUs, PSUs etc. related to industrial sector.

OSSIA helps and advises the State Government in formulating necessary legislation in the State to help, promote Micro & Small Industries in the State of Odisha and to take legislative and other measures affecting Micro & Small Industries. OSSIA also works intensively for the development and expansion of existing MSEs and starting of new MSEs in the State.

OSSIA was also awarded the first Sub-Contracting Exchange (SCX) by the Ministry of MSMEs way back in the year 1999. OSSIA has been accorded a Small Scale Service & Business Enterprises permanent registration certificate by Industries Department, Government of Odisha. The mandate of the SCX was to facilitate MARKETING SUPPORT TO LOCAL SSI UNITS OF THE STATE by organizing Seminars and holding Vendor Development Programme in order to mentor the outsourcing of the products from local SSI units of the State. The first of its kind mega National Level Vendor Development Programme with B2B Seminars were held by OSSIA at Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium, Cuttack in the year 2000 which was inaugurated by Hon’ble Chief Minister of Odisha, Dr. Giridhari Gamango and in 2001 by Smt. Vasundara Raje Sindhia, Hon’ble Minister, SSI & ARI, Government of India. OSSIA has played a leading role in lending marketing support to its members through the SCX.

OSSIA has mentored and mediated in releasing purchase order worth crores to local SSI units in the electrical sector.

OSSIA through the SCX has participated indirectly in prestigious Government open tenders under RGGVY.

Meaningful Seminars to enlighten the entrepreneurs is a routine affair since we in OSSIA believe that “AN INFORMED AND ENLIGHTENED ENTREPRENEUR IS AN EMPOWERED ENTREPRENEUR”.

OSSIA as an Apex Association has got its District Chapters for better co-ordination with the SSI Units scattered all over the State. All important Government Circulars, Decisions, Programmes, Strategies are disseminated to all the District bodies and the members.
